My Final Film Posters

Filming: Problems

When going to do my filming i reached some complications and i needed to try to find a away around this. When planning to film i ensured that everyone knew about the date, and i checked the weather to ensure that it would be the right weather that i needed for my scene. However when it came to the day, i was let down my some of my actors, therefore making me have to use others that i hadnt cast and also chose to film on another day so that one of my other actors would be free. However when it then came to filming on that other day i came across another problem, the actor then didnt turn up again so i was forced to, again use someone that i hadnt cast.

Filming

I will be filming my film this evening, in order to make this successful i need to ensure that all my cast and crew are available when i need them. I have set a specific meeting time of 4 in my chosen location so that i can ensure everyone will be there in time. I will be taking with me my:

• Solid state camera
• Tripod
• Script
• Storyboard
• Continuity sheet
• Torches
• Make-up 
• Make-up wipes
• Fake blood (face paints)

Rawmarsh

Whilst planning out my film i have decided that i could do with something adding to my film in order to make it seem more mysterious. In order to do this i have decided to have a news report running throughout the film trailer, talking about disappearances and murders in the area. The news report will talk about people missing within the area, cattle doing missing and some found drained of blood and most importantly Missing person Emily Sprague.


I will be doing this at Rawmarsh CLC, where they have high quality green screen technology. Therefore i will be using new types of technology that im not as confident at in order to improve my skills.


In this facility there are already some scenes inside a news studio so i am able to use these when i want to. I also have the possibility to use images to go with the news report. This is done by being able to put images into the news report TV, i will therefore be using a picture of the victim Emily Sprague.


When i got to Rawmarsh i took my images and ideas along with me. These were used to put onto the script which ran in order for my news reader to know what they were saying.

I also chose the news setting which i wanted, and positioned her and the camera in the right position to film. I also put a mic on her in order to be able to get good quality of sound.

We then recorded the news report a few times over in order to try and get the best result. This was then put on disk for me to be able to put onto final cut. 

Print

In order to be able to have a successful film trailer i need to ensure that i am using a font thats successful. This is because the font that my film trailers title will be in is a very important factor of audeince attraction. Bellow i have chosen a few fonts that i feel would be successful in attracting my target audience.

I have decided that i like the third font down. This is a personal choice aswell as being the choice of others as by testing my target audience by asking them to choose which one they preffer i am able to see that this is also the one which they like the most.


By deconstructing previous film packages and seeing what is conventional with each one. By understanding this i nee to ensure that i stick to conventional features of film posters when i make mine. In order to ensure that i do this succesfully i have chosen to plan out a photoshoot in order to take pictures of various styles that i will be able to use for my film poster and magazine cover. In these photos i need to ensure that my characters look the same as they do in my trailer and follow the same kind of personality.



I have began to plan the look of my film poster on paper in order to get a good idea for the sort of design that im looking for. After i have planned out my poster on paper i have also made a rough plan on Photoshop to see if i am able to pull off the effect that i intend to use. These plans are seen bellow.

For my film poster i have constructed a photoshoot where i have taken my main character to the fil,ming location. I have chosen 3 favourate pictures which i will be using in my print. These are shown bellow:

Planning my first filming

I have decided that my first filming will be the scene where my characters meat in school, i have chosen this because its a simple scene and location to start with. In this scene my characters meet for the first time in school. Where Vampire girl walks into a school commonroom, where she isn't meant to be. She is automatically recognized as being different, this is where i will get students to turn around and acknowledge her. The male character, thats in love with the vampire girl turns around and cant stop looking at her. The twins then ask her to come and sit with them, this is where there friendship blooms.

My Film Name

I have chosen to call my film Blood Lies, this is because the film revolves around lies because of the need for blood. To make my film trailer i have chosen to use a graphic of what my film is going to be called, this will include the name of the film and images or graphics that are to do with it. The font and the graphics should be recogniseable to people that want to watch the film so that they can see where it is advertised.

I have made a few trials to see how this will turn out and if its distinctive, to do these i have used photoshop and have played around with different fonts and photoshop brushes.

Continuity

In order to acheive continuity in my film i must ensure that i follow the same sort of theme thoughout the film. This includes the characters wearing the same thing where they need to. For example if something is made to look like it has been filmed on the same day then i must ensure that they look the exact same. I must also ensure that when i Film something that might be in the background one day will also be there the next, for example if i was filming outside then there might be a car or something similar somewhere and then it might just vanish. This would make it so that it wouldnt achieve continuity. In order to make sure that i am aware of these things i must make a continutiy sheet. On this i must show what the person is wearing, how they have there hair and also what the weather is like, including the time due to changes in colour in the sky. I would also have to include how far i got with my filming and possible problems that might occur whilst editing and any ideas that i might have whilst in the filming process.

Equipment

For my film preperation i have decided to look at the equipment that i will be using to make my film trailer. I will be needing various equipment throughout my film in order to ensure that i have it fully planned out in preperation. The camera that i have chosen to use is one that is more advanced than the one that i chose to use last year, so that i am able to develop my skills further. The camera is seen bellow:

I will also be needing to use a Tripod in order for my shots to be still and professional. I will need to take the camera charger with me just incase i run out of battery. I will also be taking a still camera with me so that i am able to take pictures of the filming process. 

In order for my characters to look like vampires i have decided to use a pale foundation, to make there complexion much lighter in comparison to others. I will also be using black eye shadow to do make up i have given this a trial run and the results are shown in the picture bellow:

Planning: Casting and Location

For my film trailer i need to ensure that im fully prepared. To ensure this i need to make sure that all the people that are use will be reliable when   i need them. Therefore the actors in my film i have used are close friends to me, so that they are unlikely to let me down. 


There are 5 main characters within my film and many extras and a news reporter. My main character is the vampire girl, this character will be played by my closest friend who loves to act and played the main character in my AS film, Ellisia Freeman. The male part will be played by a friend that also likes to act, Simon Wagstaff. The two other main characters, sisters will be played by two close friends that are twins. This works perfectly for my film as it will create more emotion when one of them are killed, Emily and Rachael Sprague. The other character, the vampire girls sister will be played by another close friend of mine, studying performance at collage who will be able to help be direct the film for the greatest possible effects in order to train the actors that iv chosen to use, Rhian Richardson. I have also chosen to use a friend as my news reporter as this will make it easier when traveling to the Rawmarsh CLC.
All the people that i have chosen to use are pleased with the request and are reliable. 
However if it came to the point where i was unable to use someone, then i have got people that want to be part that will be used as extra's so i would be able to use them as understudies. 

I have chosen the location of my filming to be in a local wooland. This would create the mysterious effect that i desire. THis would create a creapy, eary sort of surounding and create the right message that im trying to send.My location plan is shown bellow. The red dots indicate exactly where i will be filming.

Planning: Soundtrack

During my planning i must also include my soundtrack that i will be using. This includes any music during the film and sound effects that i will need to use. As my film is quite a dramatic and emotional film i must ensure that i use the correct sort of songs that go along with the mood and the general feel of the film as it progresses in mood throughout the film.

By looking at my research i am able to see that there is a verity of different songs of genre used in films that fit with the mood. Therefore by listening to different songs at home on my iTunes account i was able to see different songs that i thought would fit well with my film, i must also ensure that the songs fit well together so that there isn't a jump between songs and genre in the film trailer and that its a smooth transition that flows with the genre. 

I have made a list of songs that i feel might work well in my film, and in the editing i would be able to see for definite if these songs will fit with the film.

Planning: Production Logo's

By looking at my case studies i am able to see that in the film trailer there are logos and and information about the production team. Such as the people who are all involved for example the prodution company, distrobutors and anything else that took a leading role in the prodution of the film. These logos are what can be recognised to people, making them aware of different companies. In order for my film to look like a propper film tralier then i would need to incorperate these into my work. I have looked at different trailers and adapted them to my own work by using Photoshop CS5. Examples of my work are seen bellow:
